Our mascot

Meet Filiz

Filiz (Turkish for "sprout") is Sporty's nutrition-guide mascot. The bigger the sprout on its head grows, the higher it raises its carrot. You will spot Filiz next to our byline, making calorie tables, macro maths and the "what should I eat tonight?" question a little more fun.

Filiz is a cartoon character, not a dietitian. How our content is actually made is explained below.

What is Sporty?

Sporty is an AI nutrition coach app for iPhone and Android. You log a meal with a photo, barcode, voice or text; the app estimates calories, protein, carbs and fat with an editable ingredient list and suggests meals that fit your remaining calories and protein. The app and sportyai.app are built and run by Sporty AI.

What is on this site?

The blog has 75 guides on calories, macros, weight loss and meal planning, and the calorie table has 75 dish pages. All numbers come from one shared food catalog of 152 dishes, the same catalog the app uses.

How our content is made

  • Trusted sources only. Nutrition values and recommendations are based on the organisations below and on peer-reviewed studies published on PubMed. Every article lists its sources with links at the end.
  • Numbers you can check. Every calorie and macro figure comes either from the food catalog or from a listed source. Calculations (e.g. Mifflin-St Jeor) are shown in full.
  • Nothing made up. We never use invented studies, statistics, quotes, experts or reviewers. If we are not sure about something, we leave it out.
  • Short answer first. Each article opens with a direct answer to its question, followed by the details, FAQs and sources.
  • Dates and updates. Every page shows its publish or last-updated date, and pages are updated when a new source or a correction comes in.
